Southern Fried Cabbage

Am I the only person that grew up eating cooked to death stewed cabbage? It was one of those things I refused to eat because it smelled bad and the mushy texture didn’t work for me. A couple of years ago, I was talking to someone about cabbage and they started telling me how much they loved fried cabbage. Fried cabbage? Why hadn’t I thought of that?  After a little experimenting I came up with this recipe. It’s quick, simple, and can be easily adjusted to your individual tastes. Cooking time may vary based on how thinly the cabbage is sliced. If you’re really short on time, buy the pre-shredded bagged cabbage.

I think that growing up in the south Fried Cabbage was a staple. Children do not appreciate the many great qualities. My boys won’t eat it to this day. When I was young, neither could I. This is just an example of hour our tastes change as we get older.

I add a shake of black pepper and a very small amount of red pepper flakes. I have added kielbasa to make it a quick meal. Chop your cabbage and onion before work and you will have dinner in 30 minutes. Cornbread muffins and Mac and Cheese and you are done.

I am all about easy and quick. Good Eaten!!
