I don’t know what happened this year. I’m usually raring to go at the beginning of a new year but 2012 hasn’t started that way. Maybe I’m still recovering from 2011, but motivation is in short supply in the Foster household. One of my goals this year is to get my kitchen organized.
I’ve been looking around for ideas and products to help get things under control. Every magazine I pick up has a beautifully lit shot of a dream kitchen-impeccably organized and spotlessly clean.
While I know deep down most people don’t really live this way, I love looking at them anyway. I know that it took untold numbers of assistants and stylists to get that space into what we see in the magazine but it gives me a glimmer of hope.
Maybe some day I’ll achieve this level of kitchen nirvana. One day I’ll have a pantry with neatly labeled matching storage containers that are evenly spaced and facing the same direction. Maybe some day my spices will all be in cute stackable containers. Maybe someday soon, my counter tops will always be completely uncluttered and spic and span clean.
Until then, I’ll dream.

January 12, 2012Don’t worry – we all dream of that perfectly organized, clean kitchen. I, too, pin my ideal kitchens on Pinterest. But I know that, in reality, my kitchen will never look like that. We can all dream 🙂

January 15, 2012It’s not real! Just like it wouldn’t feel like home if we all lived in the pages of a magazine…the kitchen is supposed to be messy. The mess is the proof that you’re doing good work in there…creating nourishment with love for your family and friends.
